Things people usually ask

Can't see your question here? Send it over and you'll get a proper answer.

What packs are there?

Eight: Ready for Independence, Moving Into Supported Living, Healthy Relationships & Boundaries, Money, Budgeting & First Bills, Job Ready for Young People, Health & Wellbeing, My Tenancy & Home, and Everyday Living. You can buy them one at a time or get all eight as the complete set. Every pack ends with a page for the young person's own contacts and a page of useful helpline numbers.

Who are they for?

Young people getting ready to live more independently, mostly aged 16 to 25, and the adults supporting them. That includes support workers, personal advisers, foster carers, parents, colleges, SEND teams, youth workers and supported-living staff. Ready for Independence is written with 16 to 18 year olds in mind.

Can I print them?

Yes. Every pack is a PDF made to print on A4 at home or in the office. There's also a large print version and a Word version you can type into, if that suits the young person better.

Do you have large print, audio or braille versions?

Yes. Every pack comes in large print, and as a Word document that works with screen readers and braille displays, at no extra cost. If you need audio or printed braille, email hello@kithstep.co.uk and we'll arrange it. Phones and computers can also read the Word version aloud.

How do I get the files?

Once you've paid, you'll get a download link straight away by email. Subscribers get access to every pack, plus new worksheets as they come out.

What do they cost?

£12 for a single pack or £49 for all eight, for home use. For professional use it's £69 a year for one worker, £249 a year for a whole service, or from £595 a year for organisations with several sites. Monthly options are on the pricing page.

I'm a support worker. Can I just buy a single pack and use it at work?

Single packs and the complete set are licensed for home use. If you're using the packs with young people as part of your job, you'll need a Practitioner or Setting plan. A subscription also gets you the new worksheets each term.

Can councils and colleges pay by invoice?

Yes. Organisation plans can be paid by invoice or purchase order on 30-day terms. Ask for a quote.

Is Kithstep accredited or approved by Ofsted?

No. Kithstep is a practical teaching resource, and we won't pretend otherwise. The activities are linked to the areas covered in pathway plans, which makes them easy to use as evidence of the work you're doing, but they don't replace your own assessments or policies.

What if a young person tells me something worrying while using a pack?

Follow your own organisation's safeguarding procedure, the same as you would at any other time. The packs don't replace safeguarding procedures, statutory guidance, professional assessment, therapy or clinical advice. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999.

I've been in care. Is it really free?

Yes. If you have care experience, you can have the young person's edition of any pack for free, for your own use. It has every activity in it. You don't need to prove anything. Just ask for the pack you want, one at a time, and Victoria will send you a code.

Can a service use the free young person's edition?

No. It's for young people to use themselves. It doesn't include the staff notes, progress records or pathway plan links, and it isn't licensed for use at work. Services need a Practitioner or Setting plan, or can ask about the free three-month pilot.

Can I get a refund?

Because the packs are digital downloads, you lose the usual 14-day right to cancel once you've downloaded them. If a file is faulty or won't open, we'll fix it or refund you. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time. The full details are on the licence and refunds page.
